Student Scholarships & Aid

Student scholarships are available for not only attending First Lutheran School, but also Mayer Lutheran High School AND Concordia University.  First Lutheran School students may also be eligible for Tuition Aid and Free/Reduced Lunch Benefits.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS & AID AVAILABLE

Concordia University Students – The College Scholarship Endowment Fund provides Scholarship funds for member students enrolled in Concordia Colleges, Universities, or Seminaries of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. CLICK HERE for the guidelines or CLICK HERE to download an application form.

Mayer Lutheran High School Students – The congregation of First Lutheran Church provides scholarship funds for member students enrolled at Mayer Lutheran High School.  CLICK HERE for the guidelines or CLICK HERE to download an application form.

First Lutheran School Students – Unfortunately, Education Fund Scholarships are NOT available for the 2023-2024 academic year.  This is due to the market downturn this past year, as no Scholarship earnings were generated by the Edwin & Ella Ponath Education Fund, Melvin & Marlys Tessmer Fund and FLS Scholarship Fund.

In a year when earnings are available, all First Lutheran Church member students enrolled in First Lutheran School (K-8th) are eligible for scholarships. Scholarship awards are based on financial need AND on the amount of available funds. Applications will be mailed in April to all member students in Kindergarten through Grade 7. (Prospective member students should also apply.) You may also CLICK HERE to download an application form. Completed applications must be returned by XXXX in order to be considered for the  academic upcoming year.

First Lutheran School Tuition Aid may also be available. All students in Kindergarten – 8th Grade are eligible for this aid. The amount of aid is calculated with a formula based on Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). Please turn in application along with the page of your tax form 1040 that includes your AGI to the School Office any time before August 14th.

MN Department of Education – Free or Reduced Lunch Benefits may also be available to First Lutheran School students.  See attached application.

Please contact Principal Thiesfeld, School Secretary Michelle Alsleben, or Business Manager for questions or concerns regarding First Lutheran School Scholarships or Tuition Aid.
