Serve & Get Involved

Volunteering is a great way to serve Jesus and to feel like a part of our church family!  God has uniquely equipped every person with specific skills and gifts.  Using your time and talents as a volunteer is a fantastic way to serve as a helping hand and as a witness of the Gospel message within the community.

Ushers
Ushers
Responsibilities include collecting offerings, ushering for communion, and attendance counting.
Greeters
Greeters
Greet and welcome our members and visitors to our worship services. Share your smile and a warm welcome by signing up as a greeter!
Mary Martha Altar Guild
Mary Martha Altar Guild
Members oversee caring for the church chancel and preparing it for services throughout the year. You can sign up to volunteer to work one month a year with two other members.
LWML "Lutheran Women in Mission"
Membership is open to all women of the congregation. Do you have a love for Jesus and a heart for His mission? The group meets monthly for bible studies and service activities. You can join as a rostered member, a volunteer, or a guest in “Serving the Lord with Gladness.”
Quilters
Quilters
Join a hand-stitching or a knot-tying group. Quilts are donated to various organizations.
Prayer Chain
Prayer Chain
We have both an e-mail and a phone chain. You can join anytime and conveniently help others from the comfort of your home – you only need a phone or a computer/device.
Technology & Screens
Technology & Screens
Oversee the technological needs of the congregation. Help with recording worship services/messages for local cable TV, radio, and Facebook broadcasts and/or run the screens during the worship services.
Endowment Committee
Endowment Committee
This group meets quarterly to review earnings on Endowment investments and Bequests. They also work to encourage members and friends of First Lutheran to make lasting gifts that will continue to serve long after the gift is made.
Musical Groups
Musical Groups
Adult Choir, Handbell Choir, Sunday School Choir – there are groups for all ages and no experience is required – just a love of music! We are also looking for those interested in sharing instrumental or vocal talents at worship services. It is good to praise the Lord and make music in His name!
3M Volunteer Match Program
Provides $500 grants to First Lutheran School when 3M employees and retirees serve a minimum of 25 hours in a calendar year. Contact the Church office to inquire about how you can help.

The Executive Board consists of the Church officers and the Senior Pastor.
Church Council
Church Council
Consists of the Church officers, Pastors, and a member from each Board. The Council meets monthly to review Board activities and vote on Board and Committee recommendations that are then taken to the Voters for approval.

Board of Deacons
Assist the Pastors in maintaining proper decorum during worship services, assist the Pastors in the work of the church discipline, and make decisions for the spiritual life of the congregation. The Elder position assists the Deacons.

Supervise the property of the congregation (Church & School), the financial transactions, and oversee the buildings, maintenance, and work of the office staff.

IInitiate programs for the development of good stewardship for the congregation and to ensure the financial stability of the congregation through regular, proportionate, first-fruit giving.

Cooperate with the Principal in the supervision of the total program of Christian Education at First Ev. Lutheran School.

Work with the Director of Christian Education and Pastors in the supervision of the total program of Christian Education within the church – in the Confirmation program, Sunday School, Adult Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, etc.
Board of Evangelism

Organize programs for identifying and evangelizing prospective members, help new members and current members get better acquainted, and foster an atmosphere of unity, mutual concern, and fellowship support.
Cemetery Board
Cemetery Board
Purpose: Maintain the First Ev. Lutheran Cemetery property and manage the investment of the perpetual care fund.
